#8 WARUNG JUKIT UNDIS
Don’t be put off by the display of fried food in the front, the specialty of the house here is actually something totally different, a hearty soup – jukut undis.
Made with a base of black beans and tamarind, the small bowl of steaming jukut undis is a deep red-brown hue and is easily knocked back in a few big slurps.
Apart from the jukut undis, chicken is the only thing that is really served up. (Think of it as Chicken 101 ways. Most of them fried. Go with it.)
The ayam nasi campur is definitely worth trying, as it comes with a fresh sayur urap of cucumber, local spinach and fresh shredded coconut.
Another interesting flavour is the sautéed spinach with chilli and ginger flower sambal. Earthy , botanical and slightly bitter, try it and see what you think.
